Overview of Crypto Options Exchanges – Part 4 (Bybit)

While Bybit is registered in the British Virgin Islands, their headquarters are located in Singapore. This is ironic because Bybit users are not allowed to access from Singapore! Bybit has been a very popular spot broker for crypto, and the options offering appears to be worth a look if you are allowed to use the interface.

Supported Countries (Blocked Countries)

The following countries are excluded from service by Bybit:

United States

China (mainland)

Singapore

Canada (Quebec/Ontario)

North Korea

Cuba

Iran

Crimea

Sevastapol

Sudan

KYC (Know Your Customer) Requirements

The KYC process involves verifying individuals’ identities by cross-referencing their information against governmental watch lists, such as the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). This can be done through a number of technologies, including photo I.D. checks, fingerprinting and facial recognition.

The process will also ask for information about the individual’s identity, such as their name, date of birth, social security number or national identification card/number. In some cases, this will be a one-time process. In other cases, it may include a biometric check or a continuous review of the customer against watch lists and sanctions programs.

From what I can gather on Bybit, you can still trade on Bybit without setting up KYC however your withdrawals will be limited to 2BTC. I have not verified this but it looks as if a customer from a restricted country could do a limited amount of trading via a VPN that terminated in an approved country.

The Bybit Options Interface

Bybit uses a standard options interface that appears to have been lifted directly from Deribit’s UI

Funding Your Bybit Account

You can fund through fiat currency if you use one of the following currencies:

Deposits can also be made through a credit card.

Bybit Options Settlement

All options contracts are settled in USDC; this is the same as “cash settlement” on other platforms. Options are traded for BTC, ETH, and SOL however they are not physically settled in those currencies. All transactions begin and end with USDC.

Bottom Line – Bybit

Bybit appears to be a relatively popular trading option for global customers that are NOT located in the list of banned countries. While Bybit offers a good interface, with decent spreads and liquidity, the hassle of funding and operating an account from a banned country without KYC and via a VPN appears to not be worth the hassle.

What is the goal of this portfolio?

The “Top Ten Crypto” portfolio is a democratically proportioned portfolio balanced based on votes from members of the RSC community as to what they believe are the top 10 projects by potential.
This portfolio should be much more useful given the ever-changing market dynamics. In short, you rank the projects you believe deserve a spot in the top 10. It should represent a portfolio and rank that you believe will stand the test of time. Once we have a good cross-section, we can study and make an assessment as to where we see value and perhaps where some diamonds in the rough opportunities exist. In a perfect world, we will end up with a Pareto-style distribution that describes the largest value capture in the market.
To give an update on the position, each one listed in low to high relative risk:
SoV/money == BTC, DCR
Platforms == ETH, XTZ
Private Money == XMR / ZEC / ZEN
DeFi == MKR / SNX and stablecoins
It is the most realistic way for us to distill the entirety of what we have learned (and that includes the RSC community opinion). We have an array of articles that have gradually picked off one by one different projects, some of which end up being many thousands of words to come to this conclusion. It is not capitulation because we all remain in the market. It is simply a consolidation of quality. We seek the cream of the crop as the milk turns sour on aggregate.
